Programs
We offer a wide range of programs and services to meet the needs of those affected by our cause.
Emergency Shelter - At Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter, our Emergency Shelter Programs provides immediate relief and a safe haven for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Bartow County and the surrounding areas. Whether someone is fleeing domestic violence, has lost their housing due to financial hardship, or is facing unexpected life challenges, we are here to help.
Our shelter offers more than just a place to sleep. Guests are provided with daily meals, access to showers and laundry facilities, and a secure, supportive environment where they can begin to regain stability. Each person who walks through our doors is met with compassion and dignity.
Upon arrival, guests are connected with a case manager who helps them identify barriers and begin working toward a personalized plan for self-sufficiency. This includes assistance with securing vital documents, job readiness, medical referrals, and applying for public benefits such as SSI/SSDI and SNAP.
Our goal is to provide more than temporary shelter—we aim to offer a pathway forward. By addressing both the immediate needs and the root causes of homelessness, we help our guests take their first steps toward long-term housing and stability.
Street Outreach - Our Street Outreach Program extends hope and help beyond the walls of our shelter—meeting individuals experiencing homelessness where they are: in encampments, on sidewalks, in vehicles, or other places not meant for human habitation.
We understand that for many, entering a shelter is not an immediate option. That’s why our outreach team builds trusting relationships through regular, compassionate engagement. We provide essential items like food, water, hygiene kits, blankets, and weather-appropriate clothing, while offering consistent emotional support and connection to services.
But the work doesn’t stop at meeting basic needs. Our outreach staff help individuals navigate complex systems by assisting with:
- Obtaining vital documents (ID, birth certificates, Social Security cards)
- Applying for SSI/SSDI, SNAP, and Medicaid
- Coordinating medical and mental health care referrals
- Providing transportation assistance and connections to case management
- Encouraging and supporting entry into shelter or transitional housing
The goal of our Street Outreach Program is to reduce the length of time people remain unsheltered and to ensure no one is forgotten or left behind.
Transitional Housing - This two-year program supports families experiencing homelessness by offering safe, stable housing while parents work toward long-term goals such as obtaining a college degree, job training, and steady employment. By removing the daily stress of housing insecurity, families are empowered to focus on building the skills and resources needed for lasting independence.
Each family in the program is assigned a case manager who provides ongoing support, goal setting, and life skills coaching. We also assist with budgeting, parenting support, accessing community resources, and applying for benefits like SNAP, Medicaid, and childcare assistance.
